About Accessible Website Development

Building a website for accessibility from the beginning can save time and resources in the long run. When accessibility is integrated into the design and development process, it becomes easier to maintain and update over time.

On the other hand, fixing a non-accessible website can be a challenging and costly process. A website that was not designed with accessibility in mind may require extensive remediation efforts, including the retrofitting of existing content and functionality. This can be time-consuming and expensive, and may not guarantee that all accessibility issues are resolved. In addition, failing to address accessibility issues can result in legal consequences, including lawsuits and fines.

By prioritizing accessibility from the outset of website development, you can create an inclusive online experience for all users and prevent future accessibility issues. It is important to work with a team of experts who have experience in building accessible websites to ensure that your website meets all relevant accessibility standards and guidelines. Contact us today to learn more about how we can help you build an accessible website from the start.

The Process

Here is how it works in a few steps. I try to explain thing as clearly as possible but if you have more question please reach out via one of the ways listed on the Contact page. I'll be very happy to hear from you and answer your questions.

Book a Call
  1. Introduction meeting

This is the first meeting where we will determine your goals, problem you need to solve and generally if we are a good fit. This initial consultation will take anywhere between 30 minutes and 1.5 hours. You will get a sense of the project timeline and cost. This is not the time for an exact figure since we need to do a more in-depth research.

  2. Discovery

When we know we are a good fit, we will dig deeper into your company, your industry, your competition and most importantly your target audience. We will establish the exact roadmap, including the specific accessibility guidelines that may apply to your field.

  3. Content

Before we start building we will collect all the necessary content from you which may include images, text, PDFs, etc. If the content is missing we will work with you until we obtain all the pieces. This may include hiring a 3rd party photographers, etc.

  4. Web Architecture

During this phase we will build wireframes for all the important pages: homepage, any custom post types, forms, etc. Also, this is where we are going to work on copywriting.

  5. Design

We send approved wireframes to our designers. We will focus heavily on all aspects of accessibility: color contrast, placement of the elements, text sizes, etc.

  6. Development

Only when all the previous steps are properly done, we can start building your website. This is also the time when the most important aspect is put into action: coding the responsive and accessible components.

  7. Pre-Launch Test and Debug

Before going live we will do an extensive testing on all fronts: responsiveness, security, speed, usability, accessibility, etc. We will try to identify and fix any bugs that may have found their way into development. We will also have real users test the site for any final issues.

  8. Launch

Contrary to the popular belief the launch is not a final phase. There are many things that need to be put in place which can only be done now that the site is live. One example of such thing can be setting up Google Analytics and installation of SSL certificates.

  9. Marketing and Maintenance

As you may already know websites are not one and done sort of thing. They require a constant maintenance to keep secure and high performing. That is why we don't stop at just building your site and saying our farewells. That would not be a great service to you. Our marketing package includes maintenance for free.
